Learning a new language can: 
  • help someone understand their native language deeper
  • provide study/academic skill building 
  • improve memory
  • strengthen team, group and partner relationships
  • provide metacognitive skills--the insight of understanding one's own ability to learn and manipulate their skill building
  • create a vast and infinite definition of the universe
It is a respectable attempt to improve one's understanding of communication and reach out beyond one's own cultural comfort zone for priceless rewards.
 
Students are expected to
  • write notes daily & keep them in their journal for long term safekeeping 
  • participate: focus & listen, practice, & repeat as often as they are asked
  • use notes when permitted for tests
  • complete assignments when given
  • build their language development based on patterns of language and educated/informed guessing
